The 22 hottest cars at the 2016 Paris Motor Show

The Paris Motor Show kicked off ths week and it did not disappoint.

The biennial Paris Mondial de l’Automobile showcases the latest concepts and the hottest exotics from the world’s leading automakers. It was a particularly good year for electric concept cars, but there are also plenty of headliners coming to dealerships soon worth paying attention to.

The 2016 Paris Motor Show is open to the public from October 1-16. Here’s a closer look at the 22 hottest cars we saw this year:


As the first major European auto show of the season, Paris was dominated by brand’s from the Continent. French automaker Citroen unveiled its sleek CXperience hybrid Concept with an all-electric range of 37 miles.

At the same time, Citroen showed off the C3 WRC Concept. It’s a glimpse at the brand’s future World Rally Championship racer, and will compete for the first time at at the Monte-Carlo Rally in January 2017.

French automaker Renault unveiled a stunning electric concept car called the Trezor. It comes with three separate driving modes: neutral, sport, and autonomous. It can get to 62 mph in less than 4 seconds.

The Italian contingent had stellar representation through the ultra-rare drop top LaFerrari Aperta that made its world debut. Only 209 were made, and they all sold out before even hitting the showroom floor. The Aperta boasts an output of 949 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 217 mph.

The German delegation had an impressive showing this year. Mercedes and its AMG performance brand unveiled the go-faster version of its GT sports car called the GT R. It has an output of 577 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 198 mph. But there’s not just one…

And lastly, we would be remiss not to mention the the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 that was on display. It has gull-wing doors and can reach a top speed of 155 mph.

Skoda, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, unveiled its Kodiaq seven-seat SUV. It comes with autonomous features like towing assistance that will steer the car automatically when you’re parking with a trailer attached.

The highly-anticipated second-generation of Audi’s Q5 SUV made its world debut. It has autonomous features like active lane assist and traffic jam assist. It can get an output of up to 190 horsepower.

Lastly, Nissan debuted its new Micra. It comes with lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking built in. Sales start in March 2017, but there’s no word yet on price.
