This lake in Australia turns a glowing pink every time it rains

The Mallee region in Victoria, Australia is home to a group of four lakes which turn a glowing pink after rain falls.

This is because they contain red algae which give the water the unusual colour.

When it rains, fresh nutrients get washed into the lake and trigger the growth of the more algae, making the pink more intense.

However, when it is drier the lake turns a pale colour as it has a high salt content.
