These are the new accessories coming to the PS4

With Sony announcing two new PlayStation 4 consoles this week, much of the focus has been on how the new PS4 Pro and slim PS4 models will fit into living rooms this holiday season.

However, Sony also announced a bevy of new and improved accessories for all PS4 consoles. They’ll all be available starting September 15. Here’s what you need to know about them:

There’s a new version of the PS4 controller, but the differences are minor.

The new DualShock 4 that comes with the new consoles is more or less the same as it’s always been. It’s one of the best controllers ever made, so why fix what isn’t broken?

The biggest change is that the light bar that changes color for different situations in different games is now visible from the top, through the touch pad in the middle of the controller. Before, you had to tilt the controller and look for yourself.

Players can now play directly through a USB connection instead of having to sync the controller wirelessly, if they wish to do so.

If you’d rather display your new slim PS4 or PS4 Pro vertically rather than horizontally, there’s a new official vertical stand that works with both consoles. It’s priced at $24.

For a premium sound experience, there’s a new official PS4 headset

The Platinum Wireless Headset promises high sound quality and even 3D sound for select PS4 games, meaning the sound will come from every direction. At $160, this is not a frivolous purchase.

Finally, the new version of the PS4 camera offers a new design and more flexibility

The PlayStation Camera has been around since the system launched, but there has never been a good reason to get one until now. With the imminent launch of PlayStation VR in October, it will become a hot commodity, as the VR headset doesn’t work without it.

In preparation for the run on PlayStation Cameras, this revision on the device has all the same features as before, but a new cylindrical design. It also has a new stand that offers more flexibility in where you can put it and how you can angle it.

It will cost $60, the same price as the original PlayStation Camera.
