Alexander’s return to acting was the result of serendipitous events at age 17. She filled in for a sick friend at a showcase. And her manager, Randy James, was attending in place of a friend who was giving birth. He still manages her to this day.

It takes seven-and-a-half hours to put the tattoos on Alexander for “Blindspot.” She actually has nine tatts of her own, but only one that shows on TV. It’s the letters “ES” on her wrist, which stand for “elephant shoe.” “If you mouth it, it looks like you’re saying, ‘I love you,’ Alexander explained. “For me, it’s just one of those things that reminds me to be childlike and sort of look at the world through innocent eyes and just to be open minded.”
