Johor’s social media-saavy Crown Prince has caused some online buzz again, after tweeting a cryptic message directed at someone he called “delusional or obsessed”.
“Perfectionist? It’s either you’re delusional or obsessed. You were still in your mother’s belly, kid. Do some research,” the 34-year-old wrote in a tweet on Monday (Oct 10) morning.

While he doesn’t name anyone in the tweet, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim’s words are interpreted by many to be targeted at Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
According to Free Malaysia Today, Saddiq had earlier written a tribute to Mahathir, calling the Prime Minister a “master of his own work”.
On Sunday (Sep 30), Saddiq had also tweeted: “Tun M, the perfectionist”. In that tweet, the 25-year-old also shared an encounter he had with Mahathir. “I’ll never trade the experience for anything else,” he wrote.

This isn’t the first time the Crown Prince has been seen to criticise Mahathir publicly. In April, he had also written in a Facebook post that Johoreans should not be “fooled by a forked tongue individual”. Although he did not state that his criticism was of the 92-year-old leader, many observers understood his message to be sparked by Mahathir’s visit to the state.
In September, he claimed in a Facebook post that the royal family was being spied on by the former Barisan Nasional (BN) administration.
