New World Petaling Jaya: the latest deluxe hotel for business and leisure

Get up to date on where to chill out and stay in the heart of the city, whether you are here for work or play

New World Hotel Petaling Jaya in the heart of the city is the latest hotel where both business and leisure travellers can go for work and play.

With 300 guest rooms and function spaces with a guest capacity of more than 2,000, New World Petaling Jaya is the latest addition to the skyline of Petaling Jaya in Malaysia.

The stylish hotel is situated within the Paradigm integrated commercial development where other notable buildings from retail havens like Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya, to corporate towers like The Ascent, and serviced residences like The Azure Residences, are located.

The deluxe hotel is the first property opened by the Rosewood Hotel Group’s Hong Kong-based New World Hotels & Resorts, in one of the fastest growing suburbs in the Klang Valley.

It is built to rejuvenate the hospitality sector in and around Petaling Jaya and established as a warm and classy residential-style base for tourists and business travellers.

Its general manager Jai Kishan believes that it will appeal to domestic Malaysian and international visitors in various ways.

He says: “It will serve the local market, and tap into synergies from shoppers and mall visitors, tenants, employees in the ‘Class A’ corporate offices, as well as residents in the serviced suites.

“Our expected guests include domestic and international business travellers aged 30 and above, who value efficiency and reliability. They appreciate an environment where they can get work done effortlessly, and a haven for relaxation.”

The “wau” factor

The design of the hotel centres on tradition, evident from the 6m-high wau, a traditional Malaysian kite at the lobby, to 3m-tall sculptures of gasing, a traditional Malaysian top, and local art pieces.

Fitting up to 1,000 people, the grand ballroom is the place to hold large-scale events where guests can be treated to excellent service and bespoke menus.

For events, the 1,700 sq m grand ballroom can accommodate up to 1,000 guests, while the eight chic meeting rooms are ideal spaces for business meetings or social functions.

Singapore-based Avalon Collective Interior Design, which came up with the hotel’s look and feel, added contemporary touches to complement the traditional elements with the use of materials such as natural timber, bamboo flooring, marble, metal and leather. The result is a warm, welcome atmosphere that puts guests at ease when they step into the establishment.

A combination of modernity, spaciousness and practicality, the hotel’s tastefully decorated guest rooms and suites are designed to fulfil the needs of all leisure and business travellers.

Done in cool tones, the Deluxe Room is designed for comfort with plush sheets and warm, natural bamboo wood flooring.

– Deluxe and Premier rooms Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the city, matched with natural bamboo wood flooring and Malaysian-themed artwork provide a comfortable setting.

– Residence Club Room Guests get Residence Club privileges and access to the Residence Club Living Room executive lounge.

– One-bedroom suite At 786 sq ft, each suite has a high ceiling for a more spacious feel, and comes with elegant decorations and luxurious contemporary and plush furnishings.

Suite guests will also receive all benefits of the Residence Club and access to the Residence Club Living Room with dedicated concierge service, all-day refreshments and other privileges.

Dine with a view

New World Petaling Jaya has two restaurants that offers the best of local Malaysian cuisine, as well as a bar that provides a respite from the bustling activities in the busy commercial zone it is in.

Pasar Baru serves the best of Malay, Indian and Chinese cuisine in a lively market-style setting with live cooking stations and Western cuisine as well.

Pasar Baru, the main restaurant, serves the best of Malay, Indian and Chinese flavours in a lively market-style setting, with live cooking stations for hot meals. Western cuisine is also available for guests who may prefer non-local food.

The Lounge in the lobby is classy with two-storey-high windows that add to its spacious look and feel — perfect for chilling out with coffee and tea, or cocktails.

Up on the roof is PJ’s Bar & Grill — the largest rooftop bar in Petaling Jaya. It specialises in western and Asian grilled dishes and complements the delicious bites with cocktails. A viewing deck enables guests to enjoy the panoramic skyline.

There’s nothing like a refreshing swim in the infinity pool and panoramic views to start off the morning.

A private cigar lounge next to its 3,230 sq ft infinity pool on the rooftop offers a great view of the city too.
