The Republican Party threw cold water on former FBI director James Comey’s upcoming memoir, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” following the release of some bombshell excerpts on Thursday.

The Republican National Committee’s (RNC) official Twitter account tweeted a mock-up image of Comey’s book cover with the title, “A Higher Loyalty to Me, Myself, and I.”

A tweet from the RNC’s official account invites to users to get a “first look,” but instead shows quotes from some high-profile figures who have previously been critical of Comey:

“… a feast of contradiction and self-serving showmanship,” a quote from political columnist Eli Lake said. The quote appears to have originated from a New York Post opinion column, in which Lake railed against Comey’s testimony at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing from June 2017.

The RNC also included a link to the website, “Lyincomey.com,” which features more messages that criticize Comey’s tenure in the FBI.

“James Comey has portrayed himself as an innocent victim fired by President Trump,” the website said.

“Comey may use his book tour to push the phony narrative that President Trump obstructed the Russia investigation,” another message said.

The book is due out on April 17.
