The German financial regulatory authority, BaFin, has demanded that EU officials in Brussels take urgent action to prevent mayhem in the derivatives market after Brexit.
BaFin has asked UK insurers to provide them with details of "what emergency plans you have developed to take into account all conceivable exit scenarios."
BaFin President Felix Hufeld said: "Whatever the outcome of Brexit is going to be, it will cost a price, both for British consumers as well as EU27 consumers."
