Days after a shocking murder was carried out at a petrol station in Johor Baru, Malaysian police have arrested two suspects aged 19 and 22 years.
The man and the woman were arrested at 2:30am on Wednesday (Dec 20), The Star reported.
In a statement, Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said the public should not spread false news relating to the case as rumours could hinder investigations.
“Those found spreading these false, untrue or inaccurate news can be investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code for making statements that can cause fear and concern to the public,” he was quoted by New Straits Times as saying.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that the 44-year-old victim was believed to be a secret society leader.
The murder on Sunday was also said to be related to a triad war and a manhunt had been launched for four identified suspects, reports said.
A video recording of the attack which has since gone viral shows the victim Ah Chiu being attacked by a group of people. After being stabbed in the chest, the group then ran over him twice with their white BMW.
